Parasnath - Jain Mountain

This was my second visit to the 'Holy Mountain of Parasnath'. The Mountain is standing alone in the southern plains of Bihar and is aside with Palitana in Gujarat one of the most important pilgrim places of the 'Jain' religion. Parasnath is nearly not mentioned in travel books, so foreigners will hardly be seen here. The place is located just a few miles aside the New Delhi � Calcutta railroad its pretty adventurous to get there. The roads are in a miserable condition and the area is because of property not save. The newspapers are reporting periodically criminal actions, specially abductions for bribes. My driver told me just before we reached the village of Parasnath not to get visible by leaving the car. So we rushed unharmed through and started safely our mountain hike from the base of the mountain. There are some ways how to get up the summit. The basic is hiking and for the not so strong there is an 2MP (2 man power) cable car system available. Two porters are caring you in a simple chair with a stick on there shoulders the three hours hike up the top. The service cost 600 Rupees ( 15$US) and is used by many of the wealthy Jains.
